FedEx eyes India opportunities

India - FedEx, together with the US Commerce Department embark on trade mission to India this month to suss out business opportunities for US-based companies thinking of expanding into the country.

FedEx is the first private-sector company to lead a trade mission to India. It will be involved in scheduled visits to New Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai from 9-14 November.

Participants, including companies in the manufacturing, transport equipment, engineering, IT and pharmaceutical sectors will meet with Indian business partners, agents, distributors and buyers. The trip will enable US businesses to understand the challenges and opportunities in key economic hubs in the country, as well as facilitate Indian companies looking to pursue new procurement opportunities with US-based companies.

"India is one of the best performing economies in the world and it is one of the top consumers of US exports," said FedEx Services senior vice president of international marketing Rajesh Subramaniam in a statement.

"This trade mission... will provide US and Indian businesses with valuable networking opportunities needed to grow their businesses and maintain a competitive edge in the global marketplace," he added.
