NYK adds ship to India-US route

India - NYK Line announced an additional NYK vessel to its Indian Subcontinent-US East Coast Express Service (IEX), to commence in August.

The Japanese shipper said it has been using the IEX service through a slot-charter arrangement with Hapag-Lloyd since July 2007.

NYK said it expects the additional vessel will allow the company to meet strong demand for space in the fast-growing market.

The upgraded IEX service is now offering a fixed-day weekly service using seven vessels (4,000 TEUs), one of which will be provided by NYK.

The rotation includes Port Muhammad Bin Qasim, Nhava Sheva, Mundra, Damietta, New York, Norfolk, Charleston, Port Said, Jeddah, Port Muhammad Bin Qasim.
