Taiwan - Rohm and Haas sets up new Asia technical centre (ATC) to support CMP applications.
Leader in chemical mechanical planarisation (CMP) technology for the semiconductor industry and specialist materials company, Rohm and Haas Electronic Materials CMP Technologies, announced the opening of its ATC centre in Hsinchu, Taiwan.
The new technical centre enables CMP Technologies to foster closer working ties with its Asian-based customers, utilising CMP processes and providing engineering and technical services to the Asia-Pacific region.
According to Rohm and Haas, the ATC is designed to support leading global semiconductor manufacturers and has a state-of-the-art applications laboratory. It also houses the engineering and technical service groups for the Asia-Pacific region. The ATC is in partnership with major clients for advanced technology and new CMP applications such as shallow trench isolation (STI), Tungsten (W) polish and interlayer dielectrics (ILD).
Wei-Chung Yu, director of Asia Technology, said that besides providing a better support infrastructure for customers, the new centre will be involved in developing new advanced technologies. Together with the engineering and technical support groups, the ATC will be able to provide optimum support services to its customers.
The centre is a one-stop integrated operations facility and it plays an important role in the CMP Technologies global network, working closely with U.S. laboratories to support the development needs of its customers.
"Taiwan is the largest producer of semiconductor devices in the world, due to its strong mix of logic and memory operations," said Mario Stanghellini, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Rohm and Haas Electronic Materials, CMP Technologies, Asia. "The new ATC gives us a critical ability, unmatched in the region, to work with these manufacturers to develop and optimize CMP consumable sets and processes that directly improve their bottom line."
