DHL first to adopt ISO standards
DHL Global Forwarding said it has become the first in the industry to fully implement ISO standards.
DHL announced that its freight forwarding business unit, DHL Global Forwarding, has become the first in the industry to fully implement ISO 9001:2000 for quality management and ISO 14001:2004 for environmental management.
The company said it is not a new convert to ISO. "We have been an early adopter for international standards, and the process started as early as 1997," said its chief executive officer for Asia Pacific, Peter Landsiedel.
"This demonstrates our belief in providing best-in-class products and services for our customers that meet international acceptance and standards, as well as underscoring our continual pursuit for improvement in environmental performance for sustainable development," he added.
In another strategic move, DHL entered into a new partnership with Dubai Industrial City. Under the agreement, DHL, together with sister companies DHL Express, Danzas, AEI and DHL Global forwarding, will develop transPARK, a dedicated logistics park that will provide a single control point for a full range of end-to-end logistics services to companies at Dubai Industrial City.
"Our city will comprise more than 450 factories and an employee base that is projected to reach more than 150,000 people," said Al Ansari, CEO of Dubai Industrial City. "It is estimated that Dubai Industrial City's clients will collectively require up to 25,000 containers of start-up equipment just to become operational," he said.
Along with world-class DHL service quality, transPARK has the advantage of a strategic location near Jebel Ali Port - the third largest re-export hub after Hong Kong and Singapore.
