TNT India jumps on 24/7 tracking bandwagon

TNT's customers in India can now track their shipments 24/7, as TNT's India road express division gets integrated into the company's global information technology system.

TNT said it invested about €4 million (US$6.27 million) in hardware and IT network to achieve a complete Internet and computer sharing system. The investment will link TNT Speedage, the company's local road express division into the company's global IT system.

Managing director of TNT India Abhik Mitra commented, “Providing a common IT platform was one of the most critical requirements to plan for a seamless integration of TNT and Speedage. Global Link along with other service quality enhancements has helped us elevate Speedage from a semi-express company to a complete express distribution company. Reliable, fast, and accessible information is a critical success factor in our industry and we will continue to develop and invest in technology that will help us offer customers proactive and timely updates on their consignments.”

With this integration, TNT India is the first multinational express services company to have a single platform to track any consignment shipped through the company, whether international or domestic, air or road. Customers using TNT’s domestic road infrastructure in India can now track and trace their shipments immediately at any time of the day.

Backed by PC-based Customer Interface Technology (CIT) tools, Global Link also allows customers to book consignments online, view consignment status and history, and access proof of delivery.
