Konica Minolta opens regional HQ
Published: Jul 18, 2012
Singapore - Konica Minolta has established a regional facility in Singapore, three months after it announced its plans to strengthen its presence in Southeast Asia.
Located at Mapletree Business City, the Konica Minolta Business Solutions Asia will be focused on meeting customer demands in the region.
The regional headquarters will run sales and marketing activities, with the firm planning to bring in R&D, production and manufacturing initiatives to cater to the needs of the ASEAN countries.
Ryo Maruhashi, managing director of Konica Minolta Business Solutions Asia, told ProcurementAsia that the company recognised the importance of setting up in the region to better meet the specific demands, instead of handling them from its Tokyo head office.
"The locals know the business here, so they'll know how we can meet customer demands. So with our regional headquarters, we want to bring in local engineers for our local customers," he said.
He added that Singapore was picked as the choice location for a regional headquarters because of its leadership in logistics and IT infrastructure. Furthermore, the company recognised the safety and centrality of the country, easily connecting Konica Minolta to customers in Manila, Bangkok and Jakarta.
Konica Minolta has also launched its sales subsidiary in Vietnam and an office in Thailand.
"In the future, we're also looking to expand our business to include Myanmar," he said.
The company's current office in Teban Gardens will continue to operate to meet local customer demands.
