Australia to boost air transport
Published: Jun 29, 2012 AVIATION AIRLINES AIR TRANSPORT Australia - The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) is looking to strengthen air transportation services with its global counterparts. Two separate draft decisions has been issued by the ACCC, proposing to grant authorisation to an Affiliation Agreement with Emirates and Flydubai, and a Commercial Alliance between Etihad and Air Berlin. The Affiliation Agreement would allow the airlines to coordinate on operations on international air cargo and air passenger transportation services between Australia and Dubai. The Commercial Alliance proposes the coordination of international air travel services between Germany and Australia via Abu Dhabi. The airlines have already commenced codeshare operations for Air Berlin passengers flying from Germany to Australia through Abu Dhabi. With the authorisation, it prevents court action for conduct under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 in Australia. As such, the four airlines will hence begin implementing the respective agreements. Additionally, the ACCC is opening up this option to other interested airlines. _________________________________________________________________________________ Follow @ProcurementAsia on Twitter for breaking stories throughout the day.
