Evergreen and COSCO combine services
Global - Evergreen Marine and COSCO Container Lines will combine their existing joint FAX and ESA services to cope with the rise in bunker prices.
The move is expected to help both shipping lines cope with soaring bunker prices in light of deteriorating market conditions between the Far East, South Africa and the east coast of South America.
The new ESA service will comprise of 11 3,500 TEU (20 foot equivalent unit) vessels, seven from Evergreen and four from Cosco.
The first vessel to depart will be 'MASS 0816-015W' from Shanghai on 6 July, 2009.
The port rotation schedule will be Shanghai, Ningbo, Kaohsiung, Yantian, Hong Kong, Singapore, Tanjung Pelepas, Durban, Cape Town, Montevideo, Buenos Aires, Paranagua, Santos, Durban, Singapore, Hong Kong and back to Shanghai.
The service is expected to be offered as fixed-day weekly departures.________________________________________________________
