SIA Cargo moves Belgian masterpieces
Singapore - Singapore Airlines (SIA) Cargo moved 150 highly valuable works of art from world-renowned museums in Antwerp, as part of a National Heritage Board's (NHB) programme to enrich the local arts and cultural scene.
The airline transported the exhibits previously on display in Shanghai to Singapore on Sunday, where they will remain at the National Museum of Singapore until the end of the exhibition in October.
The exhibition features 13 paintings by old Flemish Masters from the Royal Museum of Fine Arts of Antwerp, 25 prints from the Museum of Plantin_Moretus/Printroom and 112 contemporary Flemish artworks from the Museum of Contemporary Art.
Masterpieces by old Flemish masters such as Peter Paul Rubens and Anthony van Dyck, which are not usually loaned for overseas exhibitions, will make their debut appearance in Singapore.
This is not the first time SIA Cargo is partnering the NHB to promote arts and culture in the city state. In 2007, the airline sponsored shipments for the Greek Masterpieces from the Louvre exhibition.
