Global – Airbus has won a contract worth US$15.6 billion to supply 180 aircraft to India’s budget carrier IndiGo.

China – Daimler and Volkswagen will be signing contracts worth more than US$5 billion with Chinese partners, a move significant to the further development of economic and political ties between China and foreign companies.

Malaysia – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has been asked to investigate the case involving French supplier Alcatel giving kickbacks to employees of Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) for information to win a US$85 million telecommunications contract.

India – The government believed the US legislation imposing a 2% tax on foreign procurement and extending the current visa cost by a year will create a disadvantage for its IT sector.

China - Rolls-Royce has signed a contract worth US$1.8 billion with Air China, following recent incidents questioning the safety of its engines.

Global - Google is suing the US Department of the Interior (DOI) for allegedly writing procurement requirements for a messaging contract in favour of Microsoft.

Singapore - The local aviation authorities and Changi Airport Group have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Schiphol Nederland B.V. to develop paperless freight documentation for air cargo transportation between Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and Singapore Changi Airport.

Japan - The two countries signed an open skies agreement this week, allowing more airline alliance cooperation for flights between North America and Asia.

Global - BP was penalised with a fine of US$15 million for releasing pollutants into the air at its refinery in Texas.

India - IBM has secured a ten-year IT outsourcing contract from Jet Airways worth US$62 million.
